Mother Daughter series
On the occasion of my mum’s birthday, I wanted her to know how much she means to me. Here’s a set of paintings portraying a few of the things that she has been doing ever since I was a child, which has shaped me to be the person who I am today.
I am grateful for every little effort that she has put in, the endless hours in teaching me manners, ethics and how to love people selflessly. Believe it or not, there would be just a countable number of times that I would have ever cried. I was a kid that never used to throw tantrums nor cry, coz mum made sure that I had it all, before even I knew I wanted something, mindreader that she is!
My guide, philosopher, motivator, my best friend , my mum!
Pictures:
The effort that mum would put in, to make me look beautiful in the frame. It would take her so much patience, time and energy to doll me up and wait for that perfect expression on my face.. before she could go *click* !
Footsteps:
I was taught to walk with repeated efforts, one step at a time.Β
I faintly recollect the memories of mum trying to think of creative ways which would motivate me to stand up on my two little feet and put steps forward.Β One of my favourite was, jumping on to her feet where she’d walk, making me believe that I am walking myself.
Lessons:
Right from the age of two, I recollect mum holding my hand and teaching me how to draw. Then on, from teaching me to study to helping me prepare for exams, it was all majorly mums efforts. All the sleepless nights and early morning revisions, before exams where she stayed awake to teach me and make sure I’d got it all perfect.
Yoga:
Being a person who had been practicing yoga since her teens, my mum made sure to begin teaching me yoga in my early childhood itself.
I never really enjoyed doing it though, and mum would put in all her efforts to make sure that I would start loving it.
She would come up with ideas to make it more fun and enjoyable..
Once instance involved, where I’d climb over and cling onto her as she’d do different asanas..
Play:
Being the only child has its own benefits. I have always been over pampered by my parents, gotten everything that I’ve ever wanted and more, there was no need to share, parents being liberal I have always had freedom to do what I wanted and best of all – my mum has been my playmate all along!
Over the years the love has just grown fonder and she is my best friend before being my mother.
Relationship issues, friend gossips and office politics- she knows them all, coz we share every tiny thing under the sun, with each other.
My pillar of strength and my constant motivator, I’m not sure where I’d be without her today. For all that I am and all that I will be, the credit would go to my mum!
I m so glad to have her for my mother! If given a choice in the next few lives, I’d choose her over and over again!
