Wrong Diagnosis

A few months ago, I lost my footing while climbing down the stairs at office. Being unable to walk, resting my arms on a friend’s shoulder I hopped my way to the doctors cabin. The doctor, not taking this seriously, kept twisting my feet as the pain got worse, suggested me painkillers and dismissed this saying its just a minor sprain. Limping and hopping, I made way to my cubicle where I stay put for the next few hours, owing to the shooting pain that I was experiencing. As I was leaving, I just looked down at my legs and it seemed to be twice its size, trying to tear its way out from my little slippers.

Dragged myself to the orthopaedic surgeon the next day. A few X-rays later, he suggested that its a ligament tear that he sees near my fingers. 5 weeks he said, and I’d be good to go. Not having recovered even after the suggested time span, I chose to take a second opinion. The second doctor, spotted a fracture, and made me wear a cast right away. A month and a half later, I had recovered pretty well and was all set to go!

The bottomline here being, this made me go to 3 different doctors and took me a recovery time of over 4 months. Had the first doctor suggested properly, it would have saved so much of my pain, suffering and most importantly my leaves!

This has brought me to believe that, its always a good idea, never to neglect and take second opinions, just to be extra sure!
