Travel agent bungling

The very first thought that comes to a persons mind when they think of a travel agency, is that everything will be planned perfectly from beginning to the end. However, let me narrate a very bad experience that I’ve had on this front, as things weren’t as transparent.

The tour operators had made arrangements for the local sightseeing including the flight tickets, however, having a different departure location. Until a day before the departure, we weren’t aware, as we hadn’t received the flight tickets as yet. We were in a state of shock when we did, we panicked and made several calls to them, but in vain. We made last minute bookings to reach the location, from where they had booked our flight and it costed us 3-4 times the initial cost (We all know that airfares shoot up at the speed of light). This mess led to a lot of stress, waste of money and an irritative atmosphere at home, also making us spend extra time and energy for a roundabout travel.

The tour operators stepped away from their responsibilities and royally put the blame on us. As a result of the bungling, we couldn’t even enjoy our vacation in peace, as this thought was constantly at the back of our mind.

A lesson was learnt!! I had made up my mind, that next time on, I’d probably make sure of confirming every tiny detail before we make the bookings. Would definitely go by the saying – ‘Leave no stone unturned’ !
