How long did it take to lose weight, and how?

Took me a year to lose 10 kilos.

Back when I was studying,I had gained weight due to lack of proper exercise and junk food. Though my parents constantly kept reminding me, as to how important it is to exercise,I never really took this into regard.Until,one day when I decided that I had to shed the extra kilos to look better and must implement a healthier lifestyle.

That’s when I cut down on junk completely,removed sugars and oil from my daily diet . I stuck onto very simple meals thrice a day,with lots of fruits and dry fruits if I wanted to snack in between. Made sure to have at least 3–4 liters of water per day.

Along side a healthy diet, I began exercising twice a day, each time, it being stretched for about an hour. The exercises constituted mainly of multiple suryanamaskaras (A set of 12 powerful yoga asanas) summing up to almost 50–60, each time. I kept track of my calorie intake and the calories that I burnt.

I very religiously practiced this for a year,never stopping. Before long I realized that I had shed the excess fat and was addicted to this healthy living as well.

Now, its almost been 6 years since and I still have maintained the same ideal weight with a BMI of 18.59. I eat healthy and I make sure that I never go a day without exercising.

This may not work for everyone. However,if you stick to a good diet and exercise regularly as well then you are sure to see the results in a few weeks/ months’ time. Determination is the key to losing weight. Try to stay motivated and focused each day.
