Inktober 2017!

Ever since I heard about inktober three years ago I’d been wanting to be a part of it. I’d even vowed to myself that in 2017 I’d keep aside a few minutes each day to draw something and post it as a part of this. But as you all know, life just swooshes by in such a fast pace and keeps us constantly running on our feet. Seeing all the artists out there posting amazing artwork, I just couldn’t hold myself back.

Below are the little doodles and comics that I made as a part of inktober, based on human behaviour, using prompts by @jakeparker as the reference. Used micron pens and black colour pencil for the same.

Day 1: Swift

swift
This is the usual scenario at office and this is how I usually react. Not lying.. My bags are always packed..?

Day 2: Divided

divided
Gender discrimination still majorly dominates many parts of India. In spite of being educated several people still seem to practice this..Portrayed here is a mother giving more milk to her son than her daughter..

Day 3: Crooked

crooked
Portrayed here is a little infant with crooked legs and a crooked tooth.. ??

Day 4: Long

long
I have an 8-6 schedule and I get really jittery once the clock strikes 5..?Portrayed here are the long working hours and the anxiety to get back home as the clock ticks..

Day 5: Sword

sword
The ‘sword’ fights with a cousin back when I was a kid! Little spoons were our swords..

Day 6: Shy

shy
I feel really ‘shy’ and awkward when someone compliments me. Everyone likes being appreciated, well I do too! Nevertheless, I am really bad when it comes to responding to it.. I just give an awkward smile and walk away…

Day 7: Screech

screech
The screeching sound that the chalk used to make! Still gives me goosebumps if I think of it!

Day 8: Run

run
I’m always a minute or two late.. and running behind the bus has become the usual drama..Being punctual is so hard! I never seem to learn..!!

Day 9: Poison

poison
Indian daily soaps have a funny way of showing the character taking a plunge to commit suicide.
The bottle that he/she picks usually has a huge label with the tag “poison”.. I mean, c’mon who keeps a bottle of poison neatly labelled, like that at home??

Day 10: Shattered

shattered
I have always had butterfingers.. and I keep dropping most of the stuff that I hold..Portrayed here is me having accidentally loosened my grip on a packet of puffed rice.. and dropped the whole bunch down.. for the insects to feed on..?

Day 11: Underwater

underwater
The nature around us is so beautiful! Why do people litter it, though?!
Makes me sad to see so many educated people littering streets, water bodies and other places around them.. the moment they get the smallest chance..! Portrayed here is a girl underwater, spotting more pollutants than the fishes and the other living organisms residing there..

Day 12: Teeming

teeming
Wherever there’s food, there are people! Lots of them! ?

 Day 13: Gigantic

gigantic
The canopies formed by the endlessly gigantic trees!?

Day 14: Mysterious

mysterious
Solving a little mystery..?

Day 15: Fierce

fierce
Fierce Waves!

Day 16: Grace

grace
The most graceful Bharatanatyam dancer – my mum, my idol. ❤️

Day 17: Fat

fat
Those extra pounds! Ugh! ☹️

Day 18: Filthy

filthy
It’s sad to see so many people litter the city.. they see a small mound of thrash in a corner and they start tossing their garbage and waste bags there, contributing to making the pile of filth all the more bigger! People are so used to following the crowd..Sad..! Make sure the garbage goes in the right place- the garbage bin!

Day 19: Cloud

Cloud
Cloudy skies and rains.. gives me feels of – curling up on a comfortable couch, with a good book in hand, sipping on a hot cup of tea, a beautiful song playing in the background alongside the sound of the rain pattering on the windows ☔️

Day 20: Deep

deep
Deep in sleep!

Day 21: Furious

furious
There have been so many instances when vehicles have splashed water on me and just zoomed off.. This makes me feel helpless and furious! Why can’t people drive slow over water filled potholes and slushy roads?

Day 22: Trail

trail
A trail of experiences. Life teaches us so much through all the experiences that we face.. We unknowingly get chiseled along the path.. The end result- A better version of ourselves.

Day 23: Juicy

juicy
Juicy watermelons in summers are a delight!! ?
