Emily, what I typically buy from Amazon is motorized vehicle and electronics parts and connectors and accessories and tools and hardware (nuts and bolts) and test equipment and flashlights and project boxes and health related products. I hope there are alternatives other than 5000 vendors and paying shipping with each one.

Every single one of these sites uses AWS or a service like Shopify served through AWS. If your goal is to not do business with Amazon, they still get revenue from all of these sites with the exception of Etsy. This article is misleading, these are not true alternatives to Amazon.

Wonderful article with excellent resources. I had hoped years ago Jet would bring Amazon competition… yet Walmart bought and lost edge. I thought it would be fun to create a ‘Damazon’ marketplace to provide a marketplace that will be responsible in todays society… particularly after reading “The Everything War: Amazon’s Ruthless Quest to Own the World and Remake Corporate Power”.
